"I had an extremely difficult pregnancy. The journey to being a mother taught me about both my strengths and fears that I wasn’t aware of.
Having worked a corporate job and commuted over 25 kilometers daily for nine years, I knew I wouldn’t like to continue this rut as a mother. I wanted to design my life around my child. The universe conspired and I had all the factors in place at the right time.
Deepa, my college friend’s wife, conceived her second child around the time I got pregnant. We joined a Lamaze class together and ended up delivering our babies in the same hospital. I would often reach out to her with all sorts of pregnancy related questions. This was the time when we realized that there was no organized resource to answer Indian mothers’ questions; both in terms of products and philosophy.
We found ourselves gathering information about products and services required at each phase of motherhood – obstetrician to day cares. These products and services definitely made our lives more comfortable. But getting to them required research that took time and effort. It was made even more difficult by the constant sleep deprivation and exhaustion that came with motherhood. The last thing I wanted to do was to make multiple trips to stores or compare and choose from thousands of product options available on hundreds of websites. We felt a strong need for a platform where valid information could be shared by mothers and where a nurturing community of mothers could be cultivated. This led to the birth of our online venture.
Our pregnancies turned out to be the most creative phases of our lives. We found a port to anchor our dreams at this time."
