I’ve had an arranged marriage but I think it’s been full of love. We met through a matrimonial site, and I was sure I was going to say no. But after the first meeting itself I knew he was the one. After 6 months we were engaged and 6 months after that we were married. We had a beautiful baby girl and a boy after that.
1 year after my son’s birth we discovered that he had Juvenile Diabetes. That kind of changed our world, we were nervous and scared, initially not knowing how to cope or deal with it.There were doctors and injections surrounding us all the time and all of us had to be trained to give him injections as well. We also collectively decided to change our diets and stand by him. As a family, we didn’t eat sweets or chocolates for a very very long time and it kept us all going. At that point I had to give up my job as a fitness trainer because he required that attention from me — but I have no regrets.
Through this whole process, my husband has been a rock. Once when I was really exhausted from everything he told me, ‘go take a vacation by yourself’ and that’s what I did— I left both my kids behind with him without any stress. We’ve been partners in every sense and the entire journey has been wonderful. Today, my son is a strong, healthy, independent 18 year old and that has been the biggest victory of my life — I wouldn’t take a day of this life back."
