"I've had a lot of pets while growing up and my love for animals started from the age of 5 when I took care of some stray cats. Since the last 6 years, I've been feeding close to 20 stray dogs in addition to taking care of their vaccinations. I've noticed that every building I've worked in has 4-5 strays who have no one to fend for them - so I give the guards their supplies for the week and replenish every sunday so that they never go hungry. When our females give birth, we try to give as many of the little puppies away through adoption so that they have a loving and caring home.
Just like we're careful of not hurting other humans around us, we need to be careful of animals as well - this planet is as much ours as is it is theirs. I remember, I was travelling by rickshaw a few months ago on Khar Danda road, when I saw a man throwing a kitten off the roof of his slum. I stopped the rickshaw went upto him, pushed him and gave him a slap -- wouldn't we do that if he pushed one of us off the roof? I don't understand how we can be so cruel...there are so many news reportings of experiments being conducted on stray dogs, but no action is taken. Why don't people understand that they don't even have a voice of their own--they need us to stand up for them? I'll keep raising my voice for them...until it stops."
